Companion Caregivers in Pasadena: Who Will Care for Your Loved One

Companion caregivers in Pasadena from Right at Home are screened, bonded and insured, and matched to your family member by interests and personality. A care manager stays reachable around the clock, and the owner, Andy Cohen, leads the Pasadena and West Covina offices.

Companion care means help with light housekeeping, meals, conversation, outings and rides, and health reminders. Here is who does that work and how we choose them. For the full task list, see service details.

Who provides companion care at Right at Home

Your loved one is cared for by a Right at Home caregiver who comes to the home. Companion caregivers focus on everyday life:

  • Light housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation
  • Grocery shopping and errands
  • Conversation, games, reading aloud, walks and outings
  • Rides to appointments and social visits
  • Medication reminders and appointment management

Bathing, dressing and toileting help belong to Personal Care, which is a separate service. If your family member has memory changes, dementia care is led by caregivers who completed 12 hours of specialized training and hold Cognitive Support Program certification.

How caregivers are screened and protected

Letting someone into your home is a big step, so every caregiver goes through background and reference checks before starting. Caregivers are also bonded and insured.

That gives your family a clear picture of who is coming through the door. It is also why a hired agency caregiver differs from an informal private arrangement: the agency handles the screening and the employer side of the relationship.

Before the first visit, the caregiver receives an orientation on your loved one's needs, so the first day is not a cold start.

Matched to your family, and replaced with one call

We do not assign whoever is free. We match caregivers using interests, personality and the services needed. A person who enjoys gardening or puzzles may suit one client, while another does better with a caregiver who likes long walks and conversation.

If the match does not feel right, call us. One phone call is all it takes to start finding a new caregiver.

After care begins, caregivers keep detailed notes after each visit so you know what happened, and supervisory staff make periodic visits to the home. The start care page explains the free in-home assessment that comes first.

The people behind the caregivers

  • Andy CohenIs the owner of the Pasadena and West Covina offices.
  • Vanessa SotoIs the Client Care Manager. Care managers can be reached 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so a question about tomorrow's schedule does not have to wait for office hours.

The office team works in English and Spanish.

Languages and where caregivers go

Right at Home supports families in five languages: English, Korean, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese. Ask during your first call about the language your family member is most comfortable with, and we will explain how that can be arranged.

Caregivers visit homes in Pasadena, West Covina and Covina, plus nearby San Gabriel Valley communities. We also serve Los Angeles, Glendale, Azusa, Rancho Cucamonga and San Bernardino. See service areas or the Los Angeles page.
